Corps commanders meeting next week

Islamabad—An important Corps Commanders meeting to be held next week will deliberate on outcome of the recently held third Pak-US Strategic dialogue and the issue of US pressure on Pakistan to conduct military operation in North Waziristan.

The meeting has attained importance in the sense that Army Chief Ashfaq Pervez Kayani will not only brief his commanders about the outcome of the strategic dialogue but also about his exclusive meetings with top US military leadership in the backdrop of new scenario of war against terror being taking shape in the region.

Kayani, not only attended the joint meetings but also held exclusive meetings with US military leadership including National Security Adviser, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Centom Chief.

The commanders are believed to deliberate threadbare on the issue of constant US pressure on Pakistan to conduct military operation in North Waziristan and its implications. General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, who attended a meeting of the allies in Seoul , South Korea recently, will also brief the commanders about its outcome. Regional security environment will also come under discussion during the meeting.
